Lodging Your NFP Self-Review Return
If you operate a not-for-profit (NFP) organisation and haven’t yet lodged your NFP self-review return, there’s still time to ensure your compliance with this important requirement.
What is the NFP Self-Review Return?
Non-charitable NFP organisations with an active Australian Business Number (ABN) must lodge an annual NFP self-review return. This process is crucial to confirm your organisation's eligibility to self-assess as income tax exempt.
Extended Deadline for 2023–24 Financial Year
While the usual deadline for lodgment is 31 October, the lodgment period for the 2023–24 financial year has been extended to 31 March 2025.
What You Need to Know:
- The return includes three sections
- A thorough review is essential to ensure accuracy and to identify whether your organisation remains income tax exempt or has become taxable.
How Can We Help?
As your trusted accountant, we're here to assist you through this process. We can:
- Lodge the return on your organisation's behalf.
- Help prepare the required information and review your organisation's eligibility for income tax exemption.
- Provide advice if your organisation is deemed taxable and assist with transitional support, including concessional lodgment dates, payment plans, and more.
Why It’s Important to Act Now
Failing to lodge or accurately complete the self-review return can lead to penalties or interest charges. Let’s work together to avoid these issues and ensure your compliance with the ATO's requirements.
