Victoria’s Small Business Digital Adaptation Program extended
Launched last year, the Small Business Digital Adaptation Program has been designed to support small business owners in Victoria from all industry sectors, to access important digital products, tools and training, with the aim of driving efficiency and resilience during the coronavirus pandemic.
At its core, the program offers a $1,200 rebate for eligible software, in recognition of the crucial role that the right digital tools play in times of disruption, often being the difference between business success and failure.
Small businesses can trial digital products from a range of suppliers who have partnered with the Victorian Government, including accounting software, online payment software, tools to build or upgrade their websites, and to improve online marketing and social media.
Once businesses have bought and begun using an approved product or products, they can then apply for the rebate to give them 12 months’ access to the product/s. Businesses will need to pay the ongoing costs after 12 months.
The program also offers free digital adaptation training and workshops to help businesses use the online tools.
Businesses can use a new, approved product, upgrade an existing approved product, or re-subscribe to an approved product that expired more than 12 months ago.
To qualify for the program, you must:
- Operate your business in Victoria as a sole trader, micro business or small business
- Have held a valid ABN since 13 September 2019
- Be registered for GST since 13 September 2020
- Report sales of at least $75,000 in your annual tax return
- Be registered with the responsible Federal or State regulator
- Be a new customer to the product
If your business is being held back by a lack of business management tools such as accounting or bookkeeping software, and you’re based in Victoria, this program is well worth looking into.
