ATO app helps sole traders

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has launched an app which provides a quick and easy way for sole trader’s to complete their tax time tasks anytime and anywhere.

The app has a number of functions, including the following:

• ATO Online services: income tax returns can be lodged with myTax, with the ability to track progress.
• Voice authentication: a voiceprint can be set up for fast, easy and secure access to ATO’s online services.
• Payment plan estimator: work out an affordable payment plan if unexpected bills arise, this can then be set up using ATO Online services.
• myDeductions: income, expenses and car trips can be shared with your tax agent, or uploaded to prefill tax returns.

The ATO encourages sole traders to download the app, which can help save valuable time. Further details can be found on the ATO website.
